The Piano Blues Volume 1 - 21

FRANCIS WILFORD-SMITH was born on Saturday, March 12, 1927, Rugby, England.
He is the compiler of the definitive MAGPIE PIANO BLUES series as issued
by Interstate Music.  After serving in the Merchant Navy, Wilford-Smith
attended Art School, graduating with a teaching degree.  He's a world
renowned cartoonist for magazine & newspapers across the world, and has
exhibited his art in Los Angeles, London and Switzerland.  He also has a
interest in popular imagery, and possess important collection of early 20th
Century pin-up magazines!  He began seriously collecting piano blues in the
early 50s, and today has the best collection in Britain, if not in the world.
His collection is known for the excellent condition of the original 78 rpm
discs.  He also has the best gospel collection in Britain.
His crowning achievement is the world-wide acclaimed MAGPIE PIANO BLUES
series that began in 1977. According to fellow BLUES-L member Robert Deland,
"the MAGPIE PIANO BLUES series is concise, and covers some incredible
performances in a logical way that is unique to blues reissues.  While other
issues may be more complete, none is done with higher quality of originals
or material selected.  When Magpie issued recordings, only the finest
performances were selected by a given artist, so while it may not be
"complete", it is all quintessential material".

One of the greatest overview of 20's-30's piano blues. Supervised by the late great Francis Wilford Smith for Magpie. Amazing.

@JCO, I've downloaded and checked vol. 21 and had no problems. Try downloading a 2nd time.

Thanks, Xyros . . . this is a real service. I had some of these once upon a time, the Paramounts and Walter Roland, but just couldn't afford to take them all in. Nice to have them all in one place, even if some of the volumes have been superceded by Yazoo's CD issues. . . .

I know what you man Frank, I packed it in at volume 13due to lack of funds, glad Sylvain shared the complete set.

For volume 21, I had to download the latest version of Stuffit Expander (for free). I had version 10, but version 15 (for Mac) did the trick. Hope that helps.

Getting an empty folder for 21....

Vol. 21 seems to be causing a problem sometimes. Downloaded it again but it unpacked as an empty folder. Unpacked a 2nd time and it was alright,
Try 7zip to unpack, I use it if nothing else works.

Fantastic post. Thank you very much. Is there any source for the liner notes of volume 5? All the other volumes contain scans of the back cover. Thanks.
