This is indeed a real classic - remember buying it when it first came out. The studio chat was pretty unique and when "12 year old boy" came on - well say no more!!!!

Sweet - thanks!

Yep, remember this one too when it first appeared. Funny story about going hunting on tractors because the snakes were "badder" that year...lol

Xyros said...

When this was originally released I was living in London .... no hunting and definitely no snakes to be seen.

YAY! More rare tracks to play on my radio show! I love spinning stuff that "nobody" has heard :D

Released December 1969. Thanks for the great post!

Of course, the then unidentified singer names "Bushy head" (sic) is Johnny Big Moose Walker who also plays piano on this Elmore's last session.

You guys... You seem to respect the genre so much. Then you go and spill out these crummy MP3 rerecording... Did it ever occur to you that once you put these out there, they are picked up and passed around... probably hundreds if not thousands of times? And believe me, the people listening to them.... many of them kids... won't be shackled to their computer's speakers forever. They... THIS.. deserves much better..

MP3s... the McDonalds fast-food of the internet music scene. Think of it in those terms. Because that's exactly what you're serving up here.

When I was a kid I had a small transistor radio and only one radio station to listen too. The sound was lousy but it was all I had and from that I grew to love music. If the people who dl these "crummy" mp3's develop a real interest they can go out and buy the recordings in whatever format is next. But at the moment mp3 and m4a are going to build the next generation of music lovers.
Xyros thanks for the crummy stuff!

Xyros & Frits:

Thanks for sharing this. I'm a huge fan of Elmore and studio chatter - so this is a winner! And, any real blues fan has special ears for hearing the beauty in even the poorest recording - so who cares about mp3's. I've got some 96kbps tracks that I treasure.

Hi!

Thanx for this one. Presently on Med. benefits & can't really afford to buy LP's (do get some for $2 CND. @ Habitat ReStore as a volunteer = getting 1st dibs on any donations), so getting "McDonald's quality sound" is BETTER than NO SOUND!

Cheers!
Ciao! For now.
