...now normally blues sax don't really shake my bottle of turpentine...nor does a piano that sometimes sounds like a harpsichord...but this is pretty all right, and you know what, sometimes that's just good enough...thanks bags...

Used to have this LP in this pressing...Eddie & The Wolfgang used to play at The Red Creek Inn, the club I worked as a DJ at in Rochester, NY quite a lot (four or five times I remember) back when this was new. I remember the gigs well as we (other musicians like myself) used to come just to watch and listen to Hubert Sumlin play guitar with the band. None of us really could stand Eddie as he did everything he could to play down Hubert's profile and blow his own out of proportion. I remember seeing him walk up to Hubert's amp and turn down/off the treble settings just to 'push' him into the background. Hubert was so humble and nice, he never fought it ... I was always hoping he'd come back with his own band but he never did. Eventually he left I'm sure. Just saw Eddie playing sax and a version of himself in that movie from a couple of years ago, The Honeydripper that stars Danny Glover as a Southern Juke Joint owner. Not a bad movie...a little lightweight, but okay and there's Eddie playing away. I still haven't forgiven him for how he treated Hubert, though, even after thrity years.

I just found 4 reel to reel tapes from Eddie at the Red Creek Inn from 1978 with Jimmy Dawkins and Junior Wells! It's a soundboard recording but the tapes are a little worn.

That sounds ( not meant to be funny) like it could be a very interesting listen. Any chance that you could share the concert with us. Would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Xyros,

I would be most grateful for a re-up of this album, whenever you have a chance (most specifically to hear Melvin Taylor's playing).

Also, not to sound too greedy, did "becks dark" ever send you the soundboard tapes of Eddie w/ Jimmy Dawkins (another one of my favorites)?

Thank you in advance for your kind cooperation!!!

Never mind my previous comment about Melvin Taylor - he's not on this album.

This one has Magic Same & Hubert Sumlin!

I'd still love to hear this, if you'd be kind enough to re-post.

Thanks again.

@ Anonymous, I can tell you I'm not Greek. Xyros is a variation on the spelling of the Greek island Syros that I started using in the late 80's. At the time I didn't know it was also a Greek name. So not Greek but using a Greek name.
