IIRC I'm playing drums on this cd or at least part of it. It was a fun session with Henry, a long time Cambridge, MAss local legend. Most if not all was first or second takes with all of us asking Henry to do different tunes. He makes the most of his somewhat limited but effective harp playing. I think they're may be an even rarer other release (maybe only on cassette( that predates this one. Cant quite recall as it's been awhile!

I was a drummer at the Cantab Lounge for Little Joe Cook's jam sessions and became a friend of Henry.'s He told me that his name was only Spencer because were he was born,I believe he said was in Virginia ,that since he was just another kid born to that family that on his birth certificate the clerk just wrote" male Spencer" He stated that some promoter added the Henry Lee.He gave a valuable tip when I first sat behind to accompany him on the drum set. He turned around and said to me "drummer make me sound good". Then it was always "give me an Elmore James shuffle". We had lots of playing time together and it made me feel good to play the blues like only he could do.I'm still playing music and I always try to make the lead "sound good". That lesson really paid off. R.I.P. Spencer. p.s. If anybody needs a good laugh listen to his song called "Uncle Bud" WOW!!!!
