Got this already. But I was thinking about Hi Tide Harris. When he first appeared on the scene in the early 1970s he was big news. He was called the Hottest Young Guitar Player on the West Coast and was hanging out with all the heavy hitters of the day. Then he was in Mayall's Bluesbreakers, touring the world and recording regularly. He seemed to have what it takes to become one of the biggest stars in blues, but instead he ended up in Japan and seemed to drop off the radar.
@Bob Mac: Harris married with a Japanese girl and settled there and became a music teacher. He anyway recorded sporadically albums in Japan with local bands.
