If your listening through computer speakers, probably wont be able to tell a difference. Stream or connect to stereo speakers, and the flac sound is better.

Thanks for this (MP3) Xyros, one I didn't have by Katie. I can't do a comparison for you because I don't have data to waste.

I really find the whole flac thing very frustrating and with many blogs posting albums in flac only I feel like I'm being forced into something I don't want or need...like when you get forced into a new operating system or a new camera system.

I really can't detect any difference between mp3 320 and flac...but I listen to my music on my laptop with small ext speakers and load up a flash drive and listen in my car stereo. Also I'm 72 and they tell me after getting into middle age your ears can't detect certain things anyway.

The main reason however is I have a monthly data allowance from Vodafone, usually around 40-50 gig, so I just have to give those large flac d/ls a miss, then there's also the storage issue, filling up ext backups so much faster.

Usually I don't d/l albums in flac, but if I have to then immediately after d/l I convert them to mp3 320. So all I've done is blow off half a gig data to get a 150 mb album in mp3.

In conclusion I ask all blog owners to please continue posting albums in mp3 format, and if they feel that flac is better, please post in both formats, as Xyros has done here today.

Thanks a lot! I sat in a trailer at a festival with Katie as see was waiting for her show to begin years ago. She was a gracious and talented lady. I haven't heard some of these songs.

Glad you all like this LP. For some reason it's not been posted before and as I wanted it for my vinyl collection you're all in luck. A great lady of the Blues.

Xyros:

I sat and listened to both the mp3 and flac versions of the album and to my ears, the flac was clearer with more dynamics. I know that not all downloaders can handle or want lossless. I can use both and it depends on the quality of the source whether flac makes sense to me. In the case of the Katie Webster album, although my ears preferred flac, I'd be just as happy with mp3. On the other hand, I'd love the Calvin Leavy album in flac, as it's one of my favorites. Not making a request, just sayin'.

Hi Xyros !

Many Thanks for this gem ! That fills a gap in my own collection !

@Bob Mac :
I don't agree to be forced in anything with FLAC ! You can easily convert FLAC in MP3 but you can't do the opposite so you do have a choice !
I'm 71 too but I iike the best to hear my blues so I've a lot of High bitrates tracks even 24bits / 192Mhz !! Nothing to compare on a high end stereo unit and good speakers !
All the best
Chris-France
