Hi Xyros,
No offense but under Spek, the flac files seem to have a cut below 15Khz ??
Are they real flac files or reencoded from MP3 ones ??

Hi Manhattan, unfortunately Spek no longer works on Mac so I can't check. But I ripped the original Cd using Freac with Flac encoder 1.1.3.
If you know of a programme similar to Spek that works on Mac let me know.
Check the Willie Love Cd it's been ripped in the same way. The Sonny Boy was ripped using another programme called Max.
No offense here either, but maybe this is a wrong link?
The size of the download is comparable to the mp3 file size.
Anyway, thank you for the music.
@ Smokey & Manhattan, point taken and welcome. Checked the size and it's small for Flac, ripped 3 more times and still the same size. The original cd is only 390mb so I ripped it with Max software and it's still only 90mb, tried "To Flac" and the same. next step was to convert to wav in ITunes and using Audacity convert to Flac and now the size is 127mb.
My conclusion is that Westside may have used compressed files to begin with but I'm no expert.
Thought I'd give Spek another go and to my surprise an old version works even though it's not 64bit. So I see what you both mean about the low 14-15 KHz but this the best it gets no matter how I rip the cd. The Willie Love cd ripped with same software and settings as the original Johnny Shines rip is 22khz ... conclusion crap cd
Hi Xyros,
To close the story, I've got many Documents Records, even in FLAC, with a very low bitrate too : 200/250kbps (??). So the seed must be already compressed indeed !! What a pity ! I just smile cause I got today instead a Junior Wells-Hoodoo Man Blues LP in DSD256 (@DSF): 6Go - 24 bits 96Khz ! EACH track above 500Mo ! lol !!
Anyway, as a collector and like Smokey says, I took it cause your stuff is always a good one and I like what you have to offer ! Thanks for that !
All the Best

Hi Xyros, (again !)
About Spek: don't know well Mac univers but this maybe could make the trick !

Otherwise I use also the Windaube version of Adobe Audition (ex-CoolEdit)

Oh man, a lot of technicalities around compression!
Anyway, the sound is nice.
On a related note: when I get HD files, most of the times I bring it down to FLAC 5. That is good enough for me.
All the best.
Any chance of a re-up please?
TIA
Benny
Thanks Xyros much appreciated.
