Pee Wee Crayton - Wild Blues Guitarist

Fabulous collection of 14 sides recorded by this fine West Coast singer and guitarist for Imperial in 1954 and '55 accompanied by an all star group of musicians including Wendell Duconge, Herb Hardesty, Salvador Doucette, Frank Fields, Dave Bartholomew and others. Urged on by this terrific band he produces some of his finest work with intense vocals, some ferocious guitar and outstanding songs.

Another one absolutely essential for any collection of post-war blues. There's a wonderful juxtaposition on many of these tracks with Pee Wee's scorching guitar solos played over the cool, steady, jazz-like backing. I first heard some of these tracks in the early 1970s when the Black Diamond EPs did the rounds of the blues circles.
