...i read recently that the difference between a $600 bottle of wine and a $200 was not that much...and that the difference between a good $70 dollar bottle of wine and a $200 bottle wasn't that much either...well this here's a mighty fine $70 bottle of pure blues goodness....but damn the vocals are sweet...and the guitar brings it on home every time...and that slow gospel thing on track 5 side 1 just slays me...

This is unbelieveable blues...perhaps someone would like to share more of Blues Queen Sylvia (with Jimmy Dawkins)...

I had the opportunity to catch one of John Embry's sets and it was really an electrifying one: raw and gutbucket blues at his best. He had a second guitarist, razor sharp slide and a good singer on his own, Iceman Robinson who made a good CD on hos own name. Unfortunately, John as well as his then wife Sylvia are gone now and didn't live too many good records like this.

Many thanks for this. I've never heard any of these recordings before - a nice treat in these times of endless reissues and recycling and repackaging.
