Thanks for this rare CD. I don't even think it was ever sold outside by Willie from the bandstand during his venues... http://www.shakedownblues.co.uk/biography_read.php?e_id=54
This was a gamble as I 'd never heard of Willie nor could I find much online. Like a lot of the recent cd posts this comes from the collection of a UK collector who seems to have received promo's from the artists.
Willie Richardson (1935- 2006) was from Saint Louis, played guitar with the Blind Boys of Alabama and was a regular member of the Kings of Rhythm alongside Billy Gayles, Ike Turner, Jackie Brenston and such. He recorded under the name Charles Drain (two tracks are on Ace CD 1187/ Leo's Five). Later in life, Willie played more or less regularly on St Louis clubs like The Red House or Cleo's Bar with a local band lead by the guitar player Jeremy Watson. It's most probable that this present CD was recorded with this band (Jeremy Watson, g; Jamie Goodwin, kbds; Bruno, bs; Rick Hudson, dms).
Sorry but I made a mistake in my previous comment. Willie Richardson has not recorded under the name of Charles Drain (who is a Saint Louis Soul singer) but was a member of the band that backed singer Charles Drain and he recorded behind him.
