The Mighty King Lloyd Band - Same
This is a private pressing that came without a track listing. So if anyone is up to making a track list that would be fine.
Also I couldn't find any info on internet about the band.
@ M, I had no problem unpacking the zip file. Sometimes it does happen if you're on a PC. I'm on a Mac and use Bandizip to compress the files. Try using 7zip for Windows as it will unpack just about anything. Let me know if it works for you.
This is King Lloyd Palmer , guitar and bass player from Baton Rouge (La) who was a member of Slim Harpo's band sometimes as a bassist. He relocated in Centerville (Ms) where he formed a band with his nephewBernell Palmer on drums and his godson Deion on bass. They played all around Centerville down to New Orleans until Lloyd's death in March 2010. Excellent and in-depth article by Vincent Joos in the French blues magazine ABS , unfortunately (for those who don't read French of course) only in French. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zF9DBK-63cA
Wow, I recorded this live in clubs around New Orleans late 2001 and early 2002. King Lloyd Palmer was on guitars and vocals, his nephew Boonie Palmer on drums, Prince Deon on bass, and I played guitar on it and made the recordings on a portable Yamaha 8-track deck.
I played with the band from 2001 until Katrina hit in late August 2005, and that was the last time i saw King.
Sweet cat; hard on the outside, full of love on the inside, and a hell of a singer and a fierce self-taught guitar player. I remember sitting up all night with him in a casino after we played a gig on Hwy 49 up in Missisppi, anh he said to me "man, I've never held $10,000; I said back to him that I have, but I'd never had another man call je king . . . we just looked at each other and laughed.
I miss King, he was a jell of a man.
Oh, yeah, I'll look around and see if I can find the track listing, but a lot of stuff got messed up in Katrina and I may not be able to find it.
