You might been thinking what this got to do with a Blues Blog, well this old farm is where it all happens.
The foto, taken in the 30's, is where we have been living for the last 15 years. The canal is still there with a bridge over it for the car, the plank has long gone. In the summer small boats use the canal to enter a far larger canal system in a nature area, in the winter, with luck, one can skate and once a year it is used as part of a survival run. A nice Frisian village of about 400 people that is not to far from the local city... nothing is far from anything in the Netherlands.
Thank you for all your kind comments. There where a couple of questions so I'll answer them, no windmills in the direct vicinity but there is a nice one in Dokkum (look it up), Ureterp is only a 20 minute drive for us so you where not far off and clogs (klompen) are still worn by farmers, working in the garden or just aroud the village. You won't see them that often in the towns. About 10 km from us is a small clogmaker who does it using hand tools (https://www.klompen.frl/ ). They are all decorated in the local design and are the ideal gift for visitors from abroad.

Beautiful. I absolutely adore that region and have been coming there to perform music steadily since 1991. My Grandmother's family came from The Netherlands to the United States in the late 1600's. As a matter of fact we still have a painting that they brought over from that era! Cheers!!!
nature is also near. Urban places are many times appreciated
because of small distances to really important places.
But this rural scenery has got in its peaceful being a winning ticket.
Anyway, good to listen many kinds of music.
